Autism Fundraiser Nets $4,000

A fundraiser by the Monroe County Sheriff Police Benevolent Association netted $4,000 for a group dedicated to helping people with autism and their families.

At its annual charity golf tournament at Shadow Lake Country Club, golfers from area law enforcement agencies and others raised money for Upstate New York Families for Effective Autism Treatment (UNYFEAT).

“The weather was perfect and there were some incredible golf shots,” said MCSPBA President Steve Michaels. “Our second vice president, Jeff Delgudico, did an incredible job organizing this event.”

Gia Carroll, a founding member of UNYFEAT and wife of sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Carroll, accepted the donation. “The support and sincere sense of caring is overwhelming,” she said.

It was the largest contribution ever made by the PBA, which represents about 250 members of the road patrol.
